After reading, I’m not sure what the point of the book was. There is a war and a bunch of people either want to marry Ciri andrzfj kill her. That’s the entirety of the book. Oh, and by the way, Sapkoowski is also in the book. However, he is barely in here so don’t get excited. The monster-hunter hunts maybe one monster It might be less, I don’t remember. This entire book probably could have been condensed into a short story. Also, there is no real ending. The novel just randoml.
The novel just randomly stops. The main problem with the writing was the dialogue. Every piece of the dialogue was too long and seemed to be anerzej chat with no plot or character advancement. Every time the dialogue should have ended it just went on for another five pages and repeated what was said at the beginning of the scene. The name of these books are: I was thinking about reading The Witcher books in anticipation of The Witcher 3 video game. Having no prior knowledge of The Witcher universe, I wondered if anyone could tell me the relationship between the books and the games – Are they direct adaptions, borrow elements, or just the same characters in the same universe with no other links? I struggled a lot with this book: I wanted to like it, since I’ve heard really good things about the game series but I had to force myself to finish reading. I don’t always mind non-linear narrative, but here it really detracted from the story, made it feel broken-up and confused, and I honestly could not see why the book was organised that way.
Very early into Triss Merigold’s POV, we learn that she got another character drunk so she could have sex with him. She did this despite knowing he was in a relationship with a mutual friend and then keeps pining about how he elvse nothing to do with her now.
I could not care less that Triss’ feeling are hurt because the guy she date-raped won’t go out with her. This is apparently the second book in the series, with the first anndrzej a collection of short stories. I had no idea, and read this assuming it came first.
Maybe the stories would have helped make more sense of the sprawling worldbuilding but since it probably couldn’t have given this andgzej the actual plot arc it lacks, I won’t be reading more in this series.
May 08, Michelle K. So yeah, I had high hopes for this series, but it was a total fail for me. I can’t remember whose recommendation steered me towards this series, which is probably for the anvrzej, because only the strongest relationships could withstand the level of betrayal I feel right now.
Like, seriously, I look at all the positivity online for this series, and I just want to scream! Elvds know everyone has different opinions, so I’d expect at least some people to like or love it, but I’m scrolling through endless 4 So yeah, I had high hopes for this series, but it was a total fail for me.
What I Hated an uncomprehensive list, due to onset of carpal tunnel syndrome: Women are sexualized at every possible point. Triss gets horny when she’s mad page 74 and doesn’t e,ves sleeping with her best friend’s man page Yennefer also makes comments on a nude Ciri’s body and how womanly it’s shaping up to be.
Want to know how many times anything odder than a dwarf or elf graces these pages? And even when they do show up, Geralt doesn’t even interact with them in any significant sap, owski. The most fantastical thing to happen in this whole fantasy novel is a andrzj sorceress and a few portals opening and shutting.
And yet, we never learn one thing about how he was changed and trained as a witcher, or who he was before he became one since witchers are made, not born. Geralt doesn’t even show up much. He’s actually pretty boring to me, but why is the guy so important to so many people never around to show just why he’s important to them?
If he isn’t going to slay monsters, the least he could do is hang out with elvess ward and friends more than he does. This whole book is a story of subpar political maneuvering, lame magic, andraej some of the dumbest statements about women that I’ve had the misfortune of reading. I just wanted a series where a man kills monsters, dammit! The kind of book that puts me off fantasy. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers.

The Last Wish wasn’t perfect, but something about it kept be reading. Sword of Destiny which involved more of the girl, Cici Still, I did fly through it so I thought Elvex may as well dive into the Witcher saga books.
This is stupid, this is stupid, this is stupid.
Blood Of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski
And I apologize for I kept seeing the Witcher books posted all over the internet so I decided to read the series and I may be done already. And I apologize for people who like the novels and who feel like me calling it stupid is insulting to them because I myself have no right to criticize people’s taste but, for example, the part with Triss coming and the reveal that Cici has her period and the guys didn’t realize it and everything is written so dramatically.
All the conversations are overly dramatic and slightly ridiculous. And then, continuing with Triss alone, the book drives home how much she wants to have sex with Geralt and then spends the rest of her part in the story with her suffering from dysentery-like symptoms. And this is Cici’s story.
He’s in it, but always more of a side character. Couldn’t make myself finish it. I did try, and it was tolerable for a little bit But my patience for the typical plot rapidly dissipated when Triss arrived and was all “OMG she Ciri can’t train when she is menstruating, and, gah, wear some makeup, Ciri, it is good for a girl’s self-esteem!
Poor old David Gemmell must be turning in his grave. It should of won the award for badly written piece of cliche tat aimed at 10 year olds. All I can say is Mr Sapkowski must have plenty of mates The book was the mental equivalent to an enema; not a fun experience. View all 3 comments.
Blood of Elves : Andrzej Sapkowski :
The novel just randoml After reading, I’m not sure what the point of the book was. It’s a shame because I really enjoyed the short story collections. Given how enjoyable people tell me the games are I thought I’d try reading the series behind it. The book doesn’t start well – page upon page of arguments between characters I assume we will never meet again in the story about an event barely described. On my first attempt at the book I never made it through this first bit.
Coming back a couple of months later I had another go, skimming through the dull argument I gave it a couple more chapters but it never improved. The characters are weak and Given how enjoyable people sapokwski me the games are I thought I’d try reading the series behind it.
The characters are weak and unlikeable.
